I believe public service begins long before someone puts their name on a ballot.
It begins by showing up.
Showing up for our neighbourhoods. For our families. For our environment. For people who need support. And most importantly, listening to the people whose everyday lives are affected by decisions made at Town Hall and Halton Region.
I’m Vandana Giri, and I’m stepping forward to serve Ward 4 because I believe our community deserves representation that is accessible, responsible, compassionate and grounded in the realities residents experience every day.

Oakville isn't simply where I live. It is where I am raising my family, contributing to my community and building our future.
I understand the everyday concerns families carry — safe neighbourhoods, traffic, affordability, responsible development, good infrastructure, parks and green spaces, and whether the community we are building today will remain a wonderful place for our children tomorrow.
Over the years, I have dedicated time to community service, environmental initiatives, women's causes and activities that bring people together.
I believe leadership isn't about being visible only during an election.
Leadership is about being present when there is no ballot asking for your name.
From Community Advocacy to Public Service
My decision to seek public office is a natural extension of the work I have already been doing.
Participating in tree planting and pollinator initiatives in Halton.
Supporting environmental and community cleanups, including Earth Day activities.
Environmental and nature-focused activities involving children and youth.
Volunteering, supporting women and families, and working with community partners.
For me, these aren't campaign talking points.
They are part of how I have chosen to contribute to the community before ever asking residents for their vote.
Recognized for Perseverance
In 2026, I had the privilege of participating on the Mrs. Canada stage and was honoured with the title Queen of Perseverance.
That recognition represents something deeply important to me: the willingness to continue moving forward through challenges, setbacks and uncertainty.
My environmental and community advocacy has also received recognition locally, including acknowledgment from Oakville Mayor Rob Burton.
But titles and recognition are not the destination.
They give me a larger responsibility to use my voice meaningfully.
Today, I want to bring that same perseverance, discipline and commitment to serving the residents of Ward 4.
A recognition rooted in perseverance, community involvement and advocacy.
Professional Experience
My life and professional experience have taken me beyond one industry, one role and even one country.
I have studied in Mumbai and built professional experience in dynamic international environments, including Dubai, with experience connected to major banking and media organizations.
Those experiences taught me how professional organizations operate, how people from different backgrounds communicate and work together, and why accountability, professionalism and results matter.
Life later gave me another important role — raising a family and becoming increasingly involved in the community around me.
Professional experience. Community involvement. A mother's understanding of everyday life.
Why I'm Running
Growth can bring opportunity, but it also brings difficult decisions.
Residents are increasingly concerned about traffic, development, infrastructure, taxes, community safety, environmental protection and whether municipal decisions genuinely reflect the people who already call Oakville home.
We cannot stop planning for tomorrow.
But we also cannot build tomorrow at the expense of the quality of life residents value today.
I am running because I want Ward 4 residents to have a representative who will listen first, study the issues carefully, ask difficult questions and remain accountable after Election Day.
My Priorities for Ward 4
Growth should be thoughtful, infrastructure-supported and respectful of existing neighbourhoods.
Development decisions must consider the real impact on roads, traffic, schools, services, green space and quality of life.
Growth must work for residents — not simply happen around them.
Families should feel comfortable walking, cycling and allowing their children to enjoy their neighbourhood.
I will support practical conversations around traffic, speeding, pedestrian safety and neighbourhood infrastructure.
Every municipal dollar comes from someone who worked for it.
Residents deserve responsible spending, transparency and clear explanations about how their tax dollars are being used.
Environmental responsibility is not something I discovered because I decided to run for office.
It has already been part of my community work.
As Oakville develops, protecting our tree canopy, parks, natural spaces and environmental assets must remain part of responsible long-term planning.
A successful town is more than roads and buildings.
It is neighbours knowing one another, children having opportunities to thrive, seniors feeling connected, local businesses succeeding and residents feeling that they belong.
Residents should not have to wonder whether their councillor will listen.
If elected, I want residents to know where I stand, how to reach me and why I make the decisions I make.
A Mother's Perspective
Being a mother has shaped the way I look at public decisions.
Because when you are raising a child, municipal issues stop feeling abstract.
Traffic is the street your child crosses. A park is where families spend their evenings. Green space is where children learn to love nature.
Community safety is the confidence you feel when your family walks through the neighbourhood.
Affordability determines whether young families can continue to call Oakville home.
Responsible development determines what kind of community our children will eventually inherit.
Like so many parents in Ward 4, I think about the small, everyday things that make a neighbourhood feel like home — safe streets, welcoming parks, strong communities, responsible growth and knowing that someone is listening when residents raise a concern.
I do not claim that being a mother gives me every answer.
It gives me another reason to ask the right questions.
Are we solving today's problems without creating bigger ones for the next generation?
Are we protecting the things families already value while preparing responsibly for growth?
Are residents being heard before decisions are made — not after?
For me, those questions are not political talking points. They are personal.
I want every child growing up in Ward 4 to inherit a community that remains safe, green, connected and full of opportunity.
